The Suir Blueway

The Suir Blueway which stretches across 53km of the River Suir was officially launched in May 2019. The Blueway has been become a reality after many years of hard work involving Tipperary County Council, Tipperary Tourism & Tipperary Sports Partnership! With just over €5.5 million invested to develop the Blueway, visitors can walk or cycle along the riverbank, while those who are more adventurous can kayak their way along the most beautiful scenery imaginable.

The trail begins in Cahir, where visitors can explore the local attractions such as Cahir Castle set in the heart of the town, or follow the Butlers Trail to the stunning Swiss Cottage nestled away in its own tranquil haven on the riverbank. Carrick an Suir is the finishing point on the Blueway, however there are lots of easy access points along the way if you wish to shorten the journey! Bicycle & kayak hire is available, along with an array of accommodation and dining options in the locality.

The Munster Vales initiative has been paramount in promoting Munster as an explorer’s paradise. The Suir Blueway is a welcome addition to the already long list of activities and adventures on offer in the area!
